WHISKY producers, Chivas Brothers have rated their Glenlivet whisky the “star” of their portfolio.
The brand was one of seven in the company to set a new volume record sales, showing the fastest rate of growth among the company’s top 14 spirits and Champagnes, with an 18% volume increase.
Chairman and CEO of the Scotch whisky and premium gin branch of Pernod Ricard, Laurent Lacassagne made the announcement on the company website last week.
Mr Lacassagne said, “Today, the Glenlivet is one of the rising stars if not the star of the portfolio. There’s clearly a malt boom in the world. The Glenlivet is the biggest contributor to the malt sector’s expansion in the last five years”
Sales of Glenlivet saw a double-digit growth in over 30 markets, including both mature and emerging countries, with the single malt’s top-end expressions, such as its 18 year-old and Nadurra range growing by over 20%.
Sales of the dram are rapidly approaching 1 million cases, with Glenfiddich leading the way as the largest single malt in the world, with case sales of over 1.1m worldwide.
