Scotland’s ‘oldest’ printing company bought out by MCC

GLASGOW based label producer, John Watson & Company has been bought by American company, Multi-Color Corporation (MCC).

The US company said the spirit label producer was “ideally located” for production, complementing their existing Glasgow spirit and wine label business.

John Watson & Company describes itself as the oldest printing company in Scotland after being founded in 1824, with MCC saying the takeover now allows owner, John Watson, whose family founded the business, to retire.

It counts a number of leading whisky producers as customers and was sold for an undisclosed sum.

MCC said they were pleased to takeover another quality printing company. It is, as yet, unclear whether there will be any job creation, however, an MCC source said it was unlikely there would be job losses.
