ICONIC bar, the Laurieston has been named as CAMRA’S Glasgow Pub of the Year.
The Gorbals bar on Bridge Street beat off stiff competition from a number of rival bars, proving to be the best in a number of categories. Bars were judged on beer quality and range, links to the local community, staff friendliness and “overall pub ambience”.
The bar has been in the Clancy family for over 30 years and is listed on CAMRA’S Inventory of Pub Interiors of Outstanding Historic Interest.
Glasgow CAMRA said the Weavers in Strathaven was the pub of the year for Lanarkshire, with Fyne Ales’ Brewery Tap in Cairndow the Argyll pub of the year. In Dunbartonshire, the Commodore Hotel in Helensburgh was crowned top of the bunch.
