Glasgow Pub Helicopter crash – eight dead

Eight people, it has now been confirmed, have died at Glasgow pub The Clutha Vaults after a police helicopter crashed into the popular pub last night  (Friday 29th November). Around 120 people were thought to be in the pub and many were rescued or escaped. However 32 people were taken to hospital – 14 are still being treated. Others were been trapped by a collapse on the left-hand side of the building.  The rescue operation went on throughout the night but the building has been deemed unsafe and rescuers are are proceeding with caution.

The Police Scotland Casualty Bureau number is 0800 092 0410. Callers should only contact the Casualty Bureau number if they have concerns for relatives who may have been in the Clutha Vaults pub or surrounding area at the time of the incident. The injured have been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Western Infirmary and the Victoria Infirmary.

This remains an ongoing operation.
