Glasgow bars Campus and Budda close

Carlo Citti has closed his Campus and Budda premises in Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street. The Glasgow licensee who opened Campus in 2005 has called it a day with regard to the two venues. He told DRAM, “I have worked really hard at it, but it has been a struggle, and enough was enough. All our staff have been paid, and most of the suppliers, although a few, unfortunately will be left out of pocket. I did my best to pay as many as possible.”
Carlo, who is taking some time out, will continue to work with CPL with regard to their shared ventures in Aberdeen and Glasgow. Juan Chihuahua, their new Mexican bar and restaurant, only opened at the end of last year.
Carlo’s long-serving General Manager Gavin McGreish has a new business venture but will also continue to work for CPL.
Campus, which has won various awards over the years particularly for embracing social responsibility, was Scotland’s first frat house, while Budda originally part of the Dark Star portfolio, was only taken over by Carlo last year.
