Aberdeen hotels reported the highest average room yields in the UK outside of London for the month, up 11.9% to £75.97. However Glasgow hotels reported a 0.4 per cent dip in room yields to £53.61.
Alastair Rae, partner in BDO’s property, leisure and hospitality division, said: “The excellent performance in the hospitality sector continued throughout the autumn, with most of Scotland producing very strong figures for the late period in the year.
“In particular, Aberdeen continues to do well on the back of the oil and gas sector and expanding conference market..”
Rae added: “Edinburgh’s tourist season is almost year round now.
“Visitor numbers were buoyant during October, resulting in sustained high levels of occupancy and revenue. The Scottish capital achieved the fifth highest revenue levels after Aberdeen, Oxford, Bath and Windsor.
“The good news is that there seems to be little sign of this level of business abating as the year drew to a close.
“The main improvement appears to be in the budget which saw strong increases in both occupancy and revenue. The premium end of the market exhibited some discounting in order to sustain occupancy levels.”
