Juniper in Edinburgh has been announced as a finalist for the Kraken Black Spiced Rum Cocktail Bar of the Year prize at the 2014 DRAM Scottish Licensed Trade Awards, which take place at The Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow on Monday July 7th.
The Kraken Black Spiced Rum Award seeks to reward bar operators whose bartenders are well trained, imaginative and good with customers. The judges looked for expertly-made cocktails, a willingness to experiment and a good knowledge of spirits, including of course rum. Each bar also had to prepare a unique Kraken-based cocktail for our judges’ inspection.
Having been open for less than a year Juniper has quickly established itself as one of the most innovative new cocktail bars in Edinburgh. Not afraid to use ingredients such as smokey bacon foam and, appropriately for Kraken rum, squid ink in its libations, the bar promises to become a go-to destination for cocktail enthusiasts.
The awards, dubbed the licensed trade ‘Oscars,’ are organised by licensed trade magazine, DRAM. Now in their 19th year, they are the longest-established awards of their kind in Scotland, recognising excellence in Scotland’s bar, restaurant and hospitality industries.
