The Pacific in Glasgow has been announced as a finalist for the Kopparberg Independent Bar of the Year prize at the 2014 DRAM Scottish Licensed Trade Awards, which take place at The Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow on Monday July 7th.

The Kopparberg Independent Bar of the Year seeks to recognise Scotland’s top independent bar. The DRAM judges were looking for a bar that has brought fresh vitality to the on-trade, and has demonstrated creative forward-thinking and an inclination to think outside the box when it comes to developing the business. Good customer service and an excellent range of products were also essential.

The Pacific is a new addition to Glasgow’s burgeoning Partick area, and co-owners Billy Milligan and Ian McColm have kept to the tiki theme that has served Ian’s other venture The Tiki Bar so well. DRAM’s judges loved their lovingly made and creatively presented cocktails, and were extremely impressed with the vibrant atmosphere and cool décor.

The awards, dubbed the licensed trade ‘Oscars,’ are organised by licensed trade magazine, DRAM. Now in their 19th year, they are the longest-established awards of their kind in Scotland, recognising excellence in Scotland’s bar, restaurant and hospitality industries.
