Burn Stewart’s profits plummeted by a quarter last year, during a period in which it changed hands for £160m.
Companies House accounts show that pre-tax accounts for the East Kilbride-based company – maker of Bunnahabhain and Tobermory malts and blends such as Black Bottle and Scottish Leader – fell by 26% to £4.9m. Its turnover was just over £59m.
The distiller – bought by South Africa’s Distell from CL World Brands in April last year – also published accounts for the first six months of 2014 showing it had made £3.2m for its new owner during the period.
