The Cambridge Distillery has released the worlds first gin to be flavoured with the ‘essence of ants’.
Miles Irving, a professional forager, collected 6000 red wood ants and put them in an ethanol solution before distilling it to make an ant concentrate.
The Cambridge Distillery said “Luckily for us, these very compounds hold great delicious potential.” Each bottle will hold the essence of approximately 62 ants and comes with a 50ml bottle of the pure ant wood distillate.
