Are you a bartender who demonstrates creativity, knowledge and showmanship? Then you could be Glenfiddich’s 2015 Malt Mastermind. Glenfiddich, the UK’s number one selling single malt whisky, is searching for bartenders to create a serve using Glenfiddich 12 Year Old, Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Solera Vat or Glenfiddich 18 Year Old.
Commenting on the launch of this year’s competition, brand ambassador Mark Thomson said, “This year we are looking for someone who not only has a passion for malt whisky and a real understanding of the complexity of the liquid, but also someone who can have a bit of fun with it.”
He continued, “The delivery of a serve is key and the finalists will not only need to showcase a great drink but do so with great storytelling and presence behind the bar.”
To enter, applicants must create an original serve which will be judged by a number of attributes: creativity, execution and presentation skills, appearance, nose, taste and finish. In the finals, competitors will also have to partake in a quick fire buzzer round showcasing their knowledge on all things whisky- serious and light-hearted.
Thomson concluded, “The calibre of finalists we see every year is a credit to the UK on-trade industry. I am really excited to see what this year’s competition will bring and discover some new and interesting Glenfiddich drinks. The winner will have a great opportunity to work with us over the next year at brand events and showcase their serve.”
The competition will be held at the Glenfiddich Vaults at Voltaire in Central London on 14th September 2015. The winner will enjoy a VIP trip to the Glenfiddich distillery where they will try some rare expressions and have ‘access all areas’. They’ll also win a trophy and £1000 prize money.
