DRAM’s Top 6 stories from the drinks industry over the last few days.

Diageo is close to selling Gleneagles Hotel and Golf Resort to Ennismore Capital which also owns The Hoxton hotel group. The spirits company, which produces Smirnoff and Johnnie Walker, is expected to raise up to £200m for the five star resort.

The Euro Hostel in Glasgow has invested £775,000 into a new range of suites aimed at families visiting the city with rates as low as £13 per person per night.

New reports from the Scottish Parliament have shown that the Scottish tourism industry is suffering from high business rates, with some companies paying over  fifth of surplus earnings on rates bills.

The Savoy in London has created a new teardrop ice cube which will add a drop of class to whisky serves. We all know that a glass of red wine is good for the heart but it now it appears that gin is full of anti-oxidants and great for the kidneys!

And finally, a Florida vodka company has released a new gluten free vodka which promises special aphrodisiac qualities
