JD Wetherspoons has revealed plans to build a hotel in the vacant land beside its Crystal Palace pub in Glasgow. The proposed 73 bedroom hotel is set to cost £10m and will create a further 30 jobs in the area.

The pub company is currently progressing its planning application for the site following meetings with planners. If approved, the hotel will be the eighth Scottish hotel for JD Wetherspoons who operate a further 29 across the UK.

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said, “We are keen to open a new hotel alongside and above our pub, The Crystal Palace, in Glasgow. We believe that the hotel would be a great asset to the city and to the pub itself.”
