Macdonald Hotels have been granted planning permission for a 44-suite extension to their St Andrew’s Rusacks Hotel, overlooking the 18th green at The Old Course. The £7m extension to the 128-year-old hotel will also include a rooftop restaurant, bar and terrace, as well as glass-fronted suites.
Macdonald Hotels deputy chairman Gordon Fraser said, “This development will set a new benchmark for luxury in St Andrews. We’ll now enter the next stages of the planning process and anticipate beginning work during 2016.”
The new restaurant, bar and 1,050sq ft roof terrace, will seat 145 people, and will offer spectacular views over the Old Course and the West Sands.
