The Scottish licensed trade is being urged to sign up for a new free initiative from Tennent’s to help them grow their businesses through the use of Social Media and PR. The brewer has announced it will be running the first of a series of free Social Media & PR workshops for the Scottish licensed trade at Drygate Brewery in Glasgow on Thursday 20 October from 11am-4pm, with a view to rolling these out across the country in the coming months.
Tennent’s have picked up numerous awards for their PR and digital campaigns and the brewer / wholesaler’s respective PR and digital agencies Wire and Bright Signals will deliver the day, which will take place at Drygate Brewery in Glasgow. Customers looking to participate can register at :digitalday@tennents.com
The company decided to develop this initiative after conducting a survey with hundreds of licensees into the use of social media by the trade. The survey revealed that almost 20% of licensed premises in Scotland do not use social media and of those that do, over 60% rated their presence on the various available channels as very poor. Further, over 80% of businesses who took part indicated they were taking no steps to secure PR coverage and over half of those who were rated their ability to do so as very poor.
Tennent’s has used the results of the survey to shape the content of the workshops to ensure attendees get the most from it based on their business needs and level of knowledge.
Carolyn Bishop, (pictured) Digital Marketing Manager at Tennent’s comments, “Our objective is to support pubs, clubs, hotels and restaurants in growing their businesses and encourage a thriving industry.”
She continued, “The results of our survey show there is a role for a business like Tennent’s, committed to supporting the on trade, to take the lead in helping Scotland’s licensed trade and make the most of the tools they have available to attract people to their outlets. We will apply the learnings and results from our own successful digital and PR programmes to help develop the capability, understanding and use of social media and PR to benefit the trade in Scotland. Demand for places on this first Workshop will be high, with registrations closing on 13th October – please register via digitalday@tennents.com” http://www.tennents.com
