Spaces left for Tennent’s free social media workshop in Glasgow

Digital Day 1

Scottish licensees can still sign up for the first free Social Media & PR workshop from Tennent’s, as several spaces still available for the Thursday 20 October event at Drygate Brewery in Glasgow.

The new initiative aims to help members of the Scottish licensed trade grow their businesses and increase sales through social media and PR. Tennent’s have picked up numerous awards for their PR and digital campaigns – the brewer’s respective PR and digital agencies Wire and Bright Signals will lead the workshop.

Carolyn Bishop, (pictured above) Digital Marketing Manager at Tennent’s, said, “We had a fantastic response from the trade when we announced the workshop was taking place and there’s a real diversity in both type and size of the businesses that have signed up to attend. It’s great to see that so many operators across the country want to find out more about PR and Social Media.”

The company chose to develop this initiative after its survey of hundreds of licensees revealed that almost 20% of licensed premises in Scotland do not use social media. Of those that do, over 60% rated their presence on the various available channels as ‘very poor’. Over 80% of businesses who took part indicated they were taking no steps to secure PR coverage and over half of those who were rated their ability to do so as very poor.

Bishop added, “As Scotland’s leading brewer & wholesaler to the on trade, our objective is to support pubs, clubs, hotels and restaurants in growing their businesses and encourage a thriving industry. Our Digital Days covering social media and PR workshops will help develop knowledge of social and PR and build confidence in its use by the trade to help tell their stories and attract more customers.”
