Carlsberg UK has developed a new compact draught beer dispenser, called DraughtMaster, that promises to increase the availability of quality draught beer throughout the UK on trade.
The company says the product will be a “game changer” for smaller venues serving low to medium volumes of beer, and can increase the shelf-life of beer up to 31 days – compared to 5-7 days for a traditional steel keg.
The space-saving system allows pubs, bars and restaurants with limited space to stock quality premium lager and craft beer and serve it at a consistent, high quality pour thanks to its specialist air compression system, with means the beer has no contact with oxygen until it hits the glass.
DraughtMaster uses 20l PET kegs, replacing Co2 with an in-built air compressor, and also has a self-cleaning feature. It boasts a simple modular structure to stock or rotate up to six draught beers, and only requires water, a power supply, drainage and space for installation.
Per Svendsen, Vice President On-Trade at Carlsberg UK described the DraughtMaster as “one of the biggest innovations in the on-trade for decades”.

The current Carlsberg UK DraughtMaster portfolio consists of Poretti 3, Poretti 9, Carlsberg Export, Shed Head, Brooklyn Lager and Grimbergen Blonde, with more of the brewer’s premium brands scheduled to come on board in early 2017.
