Scottish gins toast festive product sales boom

12 Gins

The festive season is proving very lucrative for Scottish gin makers whose innovative Christmas-themed products are being snapped up by customers, including St Andrews-based distillery Eden Mill‘s 12 Gins of Christmas set, which has recorded 10,500 orders.

Launched for pre-order in October on Eden Mill’s website, the limited edition set received an unprecedented demand from customers, with the distillery set to produce a further 10,000 units to keep up with demand.

Paul Miller, Founder of Eden Mill, said, “We were not expecting such a frenzy. It’s been very exciting to see consumers respond so positively to the product. Our distillers have thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with such new and innovative botanicals.”

Priced £69, Eden Mill’s 12 Gins of Christmas includes a variety of delicious tipples ranging from Eden Mill’s classic Original Gin to more adventurous, seasonally inspired flavours such as Candy Cane, Spruce and Cranberry, Apple and Cinnamon and Mulled Gin.

Earlier this month, Edinburgh craft distillery Pickering’s Gin received huge demand for its innovative gin-filled Christmas tree baubles. The limited edition festive decorations sold so quickly that the distillery had to stagger their release, with the next batch available from the start of December.

The baubles are each filled with a 50ml measure of gin and sold in packs of six different colours at RRP £30.

Marcus Pickering, Co-founder of Pickering’s Gin, said, “The baubles started off as a bit of fun for a Christmas fair and people went absolutely wild for them.

“We sold hundreds in minutes, and decided to add them to our production line as a fun, seasonal offering.”
