Stephen Flannery and Michael Johnson (pictured) have sold Glasgow’s Brunswick Hotel to Alam Investments, former owners of The Clifton Hotel in Glasgow’s west end. The duo is still involved in the hotel’s bar, Brutti Ma Buoni.
New owners, Khurshied Alam and son, Imran, are now overseeing a refurbishment of the 22-room hotel, which they expect to complete later in the year. They also plan to add an additional four rooms by converting the existing penthouse suite. Khurshied Alam said, “We had been looking for a city centre hotel for a number of years, and when the Brunswick Hotel came up we were immediately interested.”
He continued, “The hotel was in need of significant refurbishment, but its location made it a very attractive prospect. We’re now in the midst of renovations and already have had a busy summer.”
And the duo also has its sights on acquiring another city centre hotel within the next few years. “Glasgow has a vibrant hospitality and property scene, and we’ll be looking for a second city centre hotel in the near future,” Khurshied said.
