Pub and restaurant to close to make way for new £30m Glasgow Hotel

The Iron Horse, run by Jennifer Brooks, which dates from 1872 and Italain restaurant, O Sole Mio, operated by Djamel Benouari, are to close to make way for the demolition teams to prepare the ground for a new £30m multi-storey Glasgow hotel development on the corner of West Nile Street and Bath Street that is yet to get the green light. They will both close in early February, once their leases expire.

George Capital, which now owns the block, is seeking permission to flatten the site to make way for the hotel, that the developers say will create 100 new jobs.

A total of five businesses will close – including the Blue Lagoon chippy.
