Jordan MacDonald is opening a new 1000-capacity late night Tiki-themed bar called Tiki Bar & Grill in the former Motown Bar at Aberdeen’s Boardwalk on the Beach Esplanade this month.
First-time operator Jordan, 27, told DRAM, “I chose Aberdeen because, as I understand it, the Esplanade used to be buzzing and the building we’re in housed a number of venues and it was one of the main attractions back in the day. I was disheartened to find out the building was empty, so I saw this as an opportunity to bring back the buzz to this part of the city. I felt that the beach bar was a little too obvious hence the Tiki theme.”
He continued, “We refurbishing in stages and have removed all the Motown stuff and brightened it up with new lighting and we’re considering getting in local artists to paint a feature wall.”
Jordan used to manage The Gin Hut and Vogue Nightclub in his native Inverness.
