Glasgow hospitality entrepreneurs Kevin Campbell and Toni Carbajosa have opened Cranside Kitchen on the city’s Tunnel Street beside the North Rotunda building in Finnieston. The outdoor restaurant venue offers menus from five Glasgow restaurants owned by the businessmen – Rioja, Halloumi, Pickled Ginger, Kilmurry & Co and La Rotunda plus a single drinks and dessert menu.
Staff will be wearing gloves and safety masks. All surfaces that could possibly be touched by both the team and guests (tables, menus, plates, cutlery, serviettes, chairs, door handles, serving trays, glasses, card machines, toilets etc.) are either single use or are cleaned and disinfected between sittings, every 1.5 hours/2 hours, say the company.
The centrepiece of Cranside Kitchen is two ‘pergolas’ style marquees to cover customers, new trees and greenery, industrial walls, picnic tables and outdoor furnishings. The current Rotunda parking area has been altered into the outside restaurant venue that gives space for food service, while the new beer garden is located to the rear corner of the premises. The dog-friendly, family friendly venue has a capacity for over 200 guests in one sitting.
The Rotunda buildings bathroom facilities are open for customers.
Toni Carbajosa said, “Launching a new business in these times really adds the pressure on but we’ve been heartened to see so many Glaswegians supporting our outdoor restaurant venture. We are adaptable and nimble enough as a company to make sure that our plans can quickly change according to any government restrictions that might be passed in the future.”
