Talisker and Loch Fyne team up to help coastal communities

Talisker Oysters 2

Talisker has launched a new UK campaign of support by partnering with Scotland’s finest seafood provider, Loch Fyne Oysters Ltd. It is offering a new at-home whisky and oyster pairing experience and wants the on-trade to adopt the scheme to help their local communities too. The aim is to raise funds for The Fishermen’s Mission, a charity which provides practical and financial support to coastal fishing communities across Great Britain. It is part of a global initiative to support local coastal communities following the impact of the pandemic.

The limited-edition Talisker & Oyster Signature Pairing Kit is available to purchase through Loch Fyne Oyster’s at-home delivery service and consists of two Talisker 5cl bottles along with one dozen oysters.

The brand aims to encourage others within the on-trade to adopt the scheme to support their own coastal communities whilst driving awareness and engagement via a delivery offering.

As a whisky Made By The Sea on the Isle of Skye for 190 years, the kit perfectly complements Talisker’s sweet smoky whisky and sea salt tang – it has long been considered as a natural accompaniment to the ocean freshness of oysters.

Loch Fyne Oysters, which was founded in 1978 on the shores of Loch Fyne, now provides Scotland’s finest seafood to restaurants and retailers around the world priding itself on provenance, quality and sustainability.

Instructions on how to shuck the oysters as well as access to an online video for a tasting tutorial are also included. The kits are now available to purchase through Loch Fyne Oyster’s company website: www.lochfyne.com

Each time a photo of a Talisker & Oyster Signature Pairing Kit is shared via social media, using the hashtag #SHUCKTOGETHER, Talisker will pledge £1 to The Fishermen’s Mission, to help support the economic recovery of coastal communities that have been severely impacted in recent months.

UK Brand Manager, Nick Moore, Talisker comments, “We are delighted to be working with Loch Fyne Oysters, whose rich Scottish heritage and passion for supporting local communities, mirrors our own. While Global Scotch Whisky Ambassador, Ervin Trykowski added, “Talisker has always been the perfect accompaniment to fresh seafood. Made by the sea on the remote island of the Isle of Skye, the whisky’s signature sweet, smoky and salty profile pairs with the oysters impeccably.”

Managing Director, Cameron Brown, Loch Fyne, “Talisker and Loch Fyne Oysters share very similar values, from our Scottish heritage to our sustainable vision so it’s fantastic to be working alongside them. The Rock Oysters pair perfectly with Talisker whisky delivering a complex sweet, malty, peppery, character rounded off with a salty smoky finale to create the Talisker & Oyster Signature Pairing.”

Director of Business Development, Ali Godfrey, The Fishermen’s Mission, “The Fishermen’s Mission is the only charity that works with active and retired fishermen, and their families in and around the UK coastline. This has been a desperately hard year for our fishermen. Winter storms battered the coast in the first three months which made fishing almost impossible for the smaller boats. Covid 19 meant the collapse of the supply chain for UK fish with the closure of fish markets, restaurants and cafes. During the first 3 months of this crisis we distributed more £250K in emergency support.

We are thrilled at this opportunity to work with Talisker and Loch Fyne. Not only – is this partnership offering vital financial support, but just as importantly, it is spreading the word – far and wide – that The Fishermen’s Mission is here to help, whatever the problem. Reaching out to all fishermen working in the UK, including those who are working in the water in the aquaculture sector. We hope that this will be the beginning of a great friendship between us.”
