First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has extended the temporary restrictions on Scotland’s hospitality businesses until 6am on Monday 2nd November.
She also said that there will be additional support in the form of COVID grant extensions and that the Scottish government furlough support scheme will be extended and that businesses will get “proportionately the same level of support.”
She said, “We will extend measures for another week and this is a public health decision allows us to transistion more smoothly to a new tiered system.”
“We will publish a new strategic framework living with virus through the winter.”
“The tier system will allow different levels of restrictions that can be applied in different parts of country from 2n November and will be reviewed thereafter.”
“We can’t rule out extending current restrictions or tougher ones to safeguard life.”
Overnight there were 28 additional deaths – the highest number since 21st May and bringing the total COVID related deaths to 2653.
