Innis & Gunn has launched a limited beer called Quarter Cask Edition and teamed up with photographer Olivier Barjolle who has been commissioned to collaborate on a photography series which explores the connection between the cask and beer.
Quarter Cask Edition is the latest release in the brand’s Explorer Editions range – a collection of premium, highly original beers. For their first ever ‘Quarter Cask’ release Innis & Gunn have reimagined their signature beer – The Original – through maturation in 120 ex-single malt whisky quarter casks.
The partnership continues a long line of creative collaborations, which started with 2019’s ‘Project Ampersand’ initiative – a platform which celebrated the brand’s s flagship beer ‘The Original’ and the unique barrel-aging process Innis & Gunn uses to create it, through a series of collaborations with some of the UK’s leading designers and tastemakers.
Dougal Gunn Sharp, Founder and Master Brewer at Innis & Gunn, said, “Maturation of beer in cask is the reason that Innis & Gunn started out in the first place – it set us apart as true originals in the world of beer – so we’re huge advocates of the process itself and the fantastic flavours that it can create. Quarter Cask Edition is a perfect example of what can be achieved when beer and cask come together. It tastes truly delicious and we cannot wait for our drinkers to give it a try.”
