Holyrood Distillery launches a new blended rum this month which marries the flavors of three non-traditional rum-producing countries, including the Philippines, Vietnam and Ghana into one rich, and complex expression known as Rum Union.
It uses sugar cane juice harvested from Vietnam which when blended with the powerful pot still from Ghana and a molasses-based rum from the Philippines, results in a signature caramelised banana note that sits at the heart of the modern rum.
This new blended rum is an extension of the work that the distillery created earlier this year when they released a series of specialised cask rums known collectively as Elizabeth Yard which also made Holyrood Distillery the first British producer to be awarded the IWSC Rum Producer of the Year.
