Scotsman Hospitality, formerly known as G1, has taken over Skerryvore Ltd, the company which owns and operates Oran Mor in Glasgow’s west end. The company has invested in the business with former owner Colin Beattie remaining as Chairman.
In a statement Oran Mor said, “We are delighted to confirm that Scotsman Hospitality have invested in Skerryvore Ltd.” The statement continued, “Oran Mor was founded some 20 years ago by Colin Beattie, and we are happy to confirm that Colin will continue working with the business as Chairman.”
Colin Beattie told DRAM, “There were various people in interested but the Scotsman Group were very much minded to support the philosophy that Oran Mor is known for ‘arts for all’ and they are going to invest in Oran Mor. I will be working with them for next few years to secure the business going forward. Everybody is staying on but Kay Kirkland will work with me on my other businesses.”
“I hit the magic 70 next year, and I also want to spend more time with my grandchildren, and my family are happy. They will see a wee bit more of me. ”
However he is still at the helm with The Lismore, Ben Nevis, Granny Gibbs, a major development in High Street and interests in Oban..
Scotsman Hospitality said, “As a Group, we have been fans of the operation at Oran More since its inception some 20 years ago by founder Colin Beattie, and we are happy to confirm that Colin will continue working with the business as Chairman of Skerryvore Ltd going forward.”
It is the second well know Scottish hospitality business to change hands – the RAD Group have bought well known wedding venue Brig o’ Doon House Hotel in Alloway from Bill Costley of Costley & Costley. He opened the hotel 25 years ago and it will change hands on October 3rd. Over the last few years Costley & Costley has reduced its estate and it remaining venues include Lochgreen House Hotel and Highgrove House Hotel.
