Planning permission for a new craft distillery at Edinburgh-based sculpture park and art gallery Jupiter Artland has been submitted.
Jupiter Artland is the home of Scotland’s most important collections of site-specific sculpture and the proposals form part of Jupiter Artland’s investment plans for 2020-2030 to enhance the visitor experience, extend the reach of its learning programmes and to grow Jupiter as a centre for excellence in contemporary art. The income from the building aims to help to secure Jupiter Artland’s long-term sustainable future.
Organic Architects, who specialise in distillery projects, have designed the new building which contains a gallery, visitor centre and craft distillery.
Andrea Wise from Organic Architects said, “This gallery is a nationally important new arts venue for Scotland. It allows Jupiter to host a wider range of exhibitions in a bespoke building which also increases the amenities for visitors. There will be a new café space and small shop which replaces facilities already at Jupiter Artland.
“The craft distillery will be installed within the art space; the vision is for sculptures and artworks to be integrated within what has traditionally been seen as an industrial building type.”
