Sam Yorke and Tomás Gormley have been shortlisted in the “Chef to Watch” category at The Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards. With all other finalists hailing from Wales and England, the pair are the only Scottish chefs in their category.
With backgrounds working in some of the finest restaurants in Scotland, Yorke and Gormley joined forces to create Bad Seeds, a sell-out success pop-up at-home fine dining experience, during covid and went on to open fine dining restaurant, Heron, in 2021 and their second venue, Skua, in March this year. They were recently awarded a Michelin star for Heron, making them the youngest chefs in Scotland to receive a star for their restaurant.
This could be a third major award win for the pair this year, as Sam Yorke was recently named in The Code Hospitality 30 under 30 class for 2023/24 as one of the most exciting young chefs in the UK.
The National Restaurant Awards are judged by an academy panel of chefs, food writers and restaurateurs and an award win is highly coveted. The award winner will be announced in June.
