The Good Food Guide have announced their 100 Best Local Restaurant list for 2023, with 15 Scots restaurants making the list, and The Kinneuchar Inn in Kilconquhar, Fife name as Best Local Restaurant in Scotland.

The Good Food Guide describe The Kinneuchar as “a classic example of the very best small, local enterprise. We are in complete agreement with the pub’s vocal fan base, who are totally smitten by the generous cooking of fresh, seasonal ingredients; in fact, it makes a particularly impressive regional winner.”

Owners Alethea Palmer & James Ferguson said of the award, “We are both delighted and humbled to receive this award. It’s a testament to our extremely hard working team and our wonderful suppliers. The East Neuk really is natures larder and makes our jobs so much easier. We’d like to thank our loyal customers and everyone who voted for us.”

In Edinburgh, The Palmerston was singled out for a special mention along with Gloriosa in Glasgow. The Good Food Guide say that both epitomised “the rattle and hum you expect from a big-city venue”.

Others to collect the accolade in Edinburgh were L’escargot bleu and Kora by Tom Kitchin.

Glasgow notched up 7 ‘winners’ and along with Gloriosa were Bar Brett, Eighty Eight, the Loveable Rogue, Celentano’s, Eusebi’s and Julie Lin’s Ga Ga Kitchen & Bar.

Further afield celebrating were The Oystercatcher in Argyll and Bute, The Dory Bistro in Pittenweem, The Galleon Bistro on the Isle of Mull, one of few family-run restaurants to make the Guide, and Moray’s The Bothy.
