On 31st July, Mark Thomson, Glenfiddich Brand Ambassador to Scotland, will spearhead a group of 11 industry names on a more than 90-kilometre run across Scotland. The journey is a tribute to the one made by William Grant in 1885, as he roamed Scotland seeking inspiration before establishing the Glenfiddich distillery. His expedition began in Dufftown and ended in Balmoral.

Thomson, aiming to reenact Grant’s historic journey and bring to life Glenfiddich’s inspiring brand heritage, will lead the group on a two-day run through some of Scotland’s most isolated landscapes. The journey will start in Braemar, traverse two munros, and conclude with a well-earned rest at the Glenfiddich distillery in Dufftown. As part of this challenge, Thomson has teamed up with Protect Our Winters, an environmental charity focused on turning outdoor enthusiasts into effective climate advocates, safeguarding our planet for current and future generations.

Once the runners reach the Glenfiddich distillery, they will be welcomed with a well-deserved dram of whisky and a guided tour of the distillery, which includes a coopering demonstration. The participants will then stay at distillery properties—Malt Kiln, Torrin, and Castle Croft—where they will enjoy dinner accompanied by an array of whiskies, including private vintages and rarities exclusive to the distillery.

Lauren MacCallum, MD of Protect Our Winters UK, will join the group to discuss the project and fundraising initiatives.

Mark Thomson says,This adventure will create a lasting impression on the entrants, bringing together all the vales Glenfiddich and Protect Our Winters share, as well as promoting health and wellbeing within the industry. The love of the outdoors, challenge of the landscape and the luxury destination of the distillery creates a memorable occasion for all’
