Gongs for hospitality leaders in New Year Honours

The 2024 New Year Honours List has recognised prominent figures in the hospitality industry, including Tim Martin, founder and CEO of JD Wetherspoon. Martin received the Knight Bachelor rank for his contributions to hospitality and culture.  Scotland’s Gordon McIntyre, founder of the charity Hospitality Health was recognised or his services with an MBE.

Other new MBE’s include Adam Handling, owner of Frog by Adam Handling and Eve Bar in Covent Garden, Cornwall’s The Ugly Butterfly, and The Loch and The Tyne, Jeremy Lee of Quo Vadis, Simon Rogan of Aulis and L’Enclume, and Martyn Hillier, founder of the UK’s first micropub, The Butcher’s Arms in Herne.

Professor David Foskett, who served as the head of the London School of Hospitality and Tourism at the University of West London and is currently a consultant for the industry, was was named an OBE; in 2005, he was awarded an MBE.
