Team behind Chinaskis open Henry’s in Shawlands

The much-anticipated new bar Henry’s from Fergus Mcvicar and the team behind Chinaskis and The Berkeley Suite, opened at Abbot Street in Shawlands on December 29.

The new bar, which aims to provide the “vibe of Chinaskis” but with its own look-and-feel, will serve a selection on small plates including favourites like olives, focaccia, cod with koji miso, scampi fries. Cheese plates will be served with an assortment of wines and cocktails while specialty coffees will be served during the day along with bagels, soups, and pastries.

Dedicated to Henry Chinaski, the literary alter ego of Charles Bukowski, this dog-friendly venue also boasts an underground beer garden that will double in size come summertime.
