The current trend for restaurants to be live entertainment venues has never been stronger, and El Santo, the Latin American themed bar and restaurant in Glasgow’s Merchant City, has gone one step further and hired dance professional & choreographer, Antonia Giomi.

Antonia, who studied at Glasgow Clyde College before spending 3 years at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in Greenwich, is now responsible for booking and arranging El Santo’s Thursday to Saturday live entertainment sessions, as well as organising events.  February sees La Vida Es Un Carnaval from 9th to 17th and then El Santo is holding “Margarita weekend” between the 22nd and 24th of the month.

Antonia has also used her many connections within the Scottish dance community to instigate “Salsa Social” sessions, to be known as “Mezclador”, held twice a month, they are open to the general public as well as the Salsa community.

Said Antonia, who is a Glaswegian of Italian heritage: “I’m really enjoying this role which makes perfect use of my many years of experience in dance and choreography. With its vibrant and colourful Latin American theme, live entertainment is an intrinsic part of the customer’s El Santo experience. We are giving Glaswegians the tastes, the sounds, and the essence of Latin America!”

“It’s our pleasure to showcase up and coming acts too, and provide them with a platform. Glasgow has a long and proud tradition in all types of live performance. If we think you’re good enough, we’ll support you with a slot at El Santo!”
