The team behind the Old Toll Bar, The Red Door Club and Ryans Bar in Govanhill have opened a new venue, this time in Giffnock. The Giffnock Café opened at the start of this month and promises a café brunch option as well as small plates, wines and cocktails. It takes over the space formerly occupied by Ian Brown Food & Drink.

Operations Manager for the group, Grant Montgomery, says “Giffnock is a great area and a lovely neighbourhood. We want to be a destination venue for the area and bring something unique. “We will have around 40 covers inside and we are planning on putting in an outside decking area that will seat around 20 more.

“It’s been incredibly touching that Ian and Sheila thought we were the right people to take on this unit as they really made a stamp on the neighbourhood, having had the venue for 12 years. We really want to do this justice and bring what we already do in terms of cocktails, bar offering, service and reputation and couple that with great food. We’ve never had the space to do that before.

“We have amazing chefs coming on board and we are looking to do pairings and tastings with wine, whisky and such like. It will be a whole new experience for us, but we have the capabilities to make it an amazing venue.”
