A new 1920s prohibition themed cocktail and wine bar called The Gatsby has opened in the town of Renfrew. The sleek new venue is the brainchild of Esther Kelly who has owned the unit, which she previously operated as a hairdressers, for 35 years.

The venue is open from Tuesday to Sunday until midnight and is also planning to offer Prosecco Afternoon Teas in the coming months.
Esther, 58, shared, “I was Renfrew born and bred, and it was my dream to open this venue. It just goes to prove you are never too old to realise those dreams. I should have done this years ago!
“I literally stripped out everything to find all the original architecture and history of the building and I have designed the bar myself. It’s been stressful at times, but I’m delighted with the result from the fireplace to the 1920s artwork to the Gatsby themed arched mirrors. I’m a big Gatsby enthusiast, so this is my perspective on what the 1920s would look like in the 2020s.
“It’s been so busy since opening that we were even having to turn people away on our first week. We’ve had people coming in from all over of Glasgow and the reaction on social media has been amazing as well.
“We wanted to include proper cocktails from the era such as the Daisy Buchanan and Gin Rickey, but we also serve classic cocktails. We’re also planning entertainment such as jazz singers and some very special themed nights!”
