Cultar Restaurant Group, the team behind Cail Bruich and Brett are launching a new venue in Glasgow’s West End that with the news that The Clarence, a new neighbourhood restaurant and pub, will open in Hyndland at the end of January. It replaces their popular seafood restaurant Shucks, which closed earlier this month.
Offering “the charm of a traditional pub with the inviting atmosphere of a neighbourhood dining room”, they said in a statement, “At The Clarence, we believe in celebrating life’s little moments, big milestones, and everything in between. Whether you’re joining us for a casual drink at the bar or a celebratory feast in our dining room, we’re here to make it special.”
As well as an “Early Menu” available midweek during the day and early evening that promises a “quick meal”, the main menu includes dry-aged steaks and Sunday Roast as well as a Seafood menu and an Oyster Happy Hour.
Cultar Restaurant Group, founded by Paul and Chris Charalambous, opened their first venue, Cail Bruich, in 2006 which went on to become Glasgows first Michelin-starred restaurant in 18 years under chef Lorna McNee. In 2019 they opened Brett, a natural wine bar and fire-focused restaurant. In 2020, following lockdown, Epicures, also in Hyndland, joined the group, before seafood venue Shucks, across the road from Epicures, opened in March 2022.
