Popeyes®, the Louisiana chicken restaurant, is opening its third venue in Scotland and seventh in the UK, as it prepares to launch in Edinburgh this spring. The brand, which was founded in New Orleans in 1972 is aiming to shake up the UK chicken scene, with 45 restaurants planned to open across the UK throughout 2025. The latest venue takes over the former Halifax building on Princes Street.

Tom Crowley, Popeyes® UK Chief Executive Officer, said, “An Edinburgh restaurant has been highly requested since we landed in the UK, so I’m delighted that we’re now able to make that a reality. We’ve seen our Scottish fans queue for up to 18 hours before an opening to be the first to taste our New Orleans inspired menu, and I’m confident our new restaurant on the iconic Princes Street will be equally as popular.”

The restaurant will open with the full Popeyes® menu, including its signature chicken, which is marinated for 12 hours in a signature blend of Louisiana herbs and spices. The line-up includes favourites like the Popeyes® chicken sandwich and chicken wraps and the Edinburgh opening will feature the all-new Saucin’ range with three New Orleans-inspired sauces: cheesy Garlic Parm, smokin’ Bold BBQ and spicy Buffalo.
