Compass Box appoints new CEO

Following the appointment of Neil Everitt as Chairman of Scotch Whisky maker, Compass Box, the company has announcement that Nishat Gupte has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer.

Gupte who succeeds Maurice Doyle as CEO said, “I’m thrilled to join Compass Box, with its category-defining approach to crafting the most unique Scotch whisky.”

“Partnering with Neil, whose track-record in the industry has been extraordinary, gives us a remarkable platform to unleash the full potential of Compass Box’s signature quality and creativity. I look forward to further building on our commercial strategy, while safeguarding the pioneering spirit that’s made Compass Box the favourite among Scotch tastemakers worldwide.”

Everitt said, “Compass Box has earned tremendous respect for challenging Scotch whisky conventions, and I’m honoured to come on board.

“Nishat’s blend of financial and commercial acumen, as well as beverage industry experience, complements Compass Box’s innovative DNA perfectly. Together with the team, we aim to expand the brands market presence, refine its commercial execution, and keep delivering top-tier whiskies that exceed expectations.”

Gupte joins Compass Box following his nearly 5-year tenure in New York as founding CEO of Betty Buzz and Betty Booze, where he steered the company from ideation to a multi-million-dollar portfolio sold across major grocery and independent retail outlets in the US, Canada and the UK. Prior to this, Gupte was Head of European Luxury and Alcoholic Beverage Investment Banking at Credit Suisse where he led the sale of Aviation Gin to Diageo.

Everitt’s leadership roles include founder and Executive Director of Brockmans Gin Ltd. and Chairman of Rye River Brewing Company, Ireland’s leading craft brewer. He is also the anchor investor and a Director of Jubel Beer in the UK. Additionally, Everitt is Chairman of events and marketing agency, Marble Communications in London. Prior to Brockmans, Everitt held numerous executive positions including with Stock Spirits Group, Allied Domecq plc, and British American Tobacco plc.

Caelum Capital, a specialist beverage-focused investment firm, remains a key investor in Compass Box.
