The Royal Dunkeld Hotel has launched the Royal Indian Restaurant, a 50-seat venue which will be the towns only Indian restaurant. It is part of a broader development strategy by owners Melville Hotels, who acquired the property in 2020 and who also announced plans to build what it claims will be Scotland’s largest on-site gin bar.
Originally built in 1821 as a coaching inn, the Royal Dunkeld Hotel is one of the town’s most historic buildings. Melville Hotels carried out upgrades to the public areas shortly after acquiring the hotel and has since refurbished the dining room as part of the restaurant rebrand. A full refurbishment is planned for next year as part of the hotel group’s continued investment in Dunkeld.
A spokesperson for the group described the launch as a milestone, marking the company’s first Indian restaurant within its portfolio.
The group owns several hotels across Scotland, including the Royal Dunkeld Hotel, The Popinjay Hotel, The Grey Gull Hotel, and Loch Long Hotel.
