Edinburgh-based Signature Group is opening applications for its newly created Senior Chef Academy, a three-month training and mentorship scheme designed to fast-track aspiring senior chefs into leadership roles across the group’s portfolio.
The first intake will begin in November, giving successful applicants the chance to build skills and confidence in the kitchen before Christmas. The programme will be led by Ian Boyd Thorpe, executive chef at The Rutland Hotel in Edinburgh, and supported by Signature Group’s head of food, Tom Adam, who created the initiative.
Tom said, “We’re really excited to be launching our ‘Senior Chef Academy’ just in time for the festive season.
“This structured, three-month development programme has been designed to support aspiring senior chefs in building the skills, confidence, and leadership required to thrive in our kitchens across the Signature portfolio.
“This is a unique opportunity to learn our standards and systems, receive mentorship, and grow into a role that matches your strengths and ambitions.”
Throughout the programme, candidates will take part in hands-on training, mentoring and leadership development. On completion, they will be placed in a role suited to their skills and future potential.
The Academy also offers access to opportunities across the group’s 20+ venues, which include sites in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, St Andrews, and Bridge of Allan. Entry to the programme involves a formal interview and a practical skills test, both taking place at The Rutland in Edinburgh this November.
Signature Group plans to run the Senior Chef Academy every three months throughout 2026, with a full-time senior chef role offered at the end of each programme. For more information on Signature Group, go to https://signaturepubs.co.uk
