Popular Edinburgh venue Dropkick Murphys is expanding to Glasgow and will open for three days this weekend before opening permanently later in the year. The bar will be making its home at 30 Midland Street within Platform, in the former site of The Arches.

They have plenty planned for this first three-day extravaganza which runs from the 7th until the 9th of February including seven live bands, full coverage of the Six Nations rugby, the GAA, and a huge Super Bowl Party on Sunday the 9th. There will also be a Paul Mescal Lookalike Competition, Westlife Karaoke and FREE Bottomless Crisp Sandwich Brunch with Mr Tayto – the famous Irish snack brand.

Dropkick’s spokesman Seamus Bosco Murphy shared, “We love Glasgow and all the fantastic Irish bars it has. Kitty’s, Malone’s, Jinty’s, etc, are all brilliant… and we just thought, do you know what Glasgow needs? Another feckin’ Irish bar!

“So here we are. Our offer is somewhat unique as an Irish experience, somewhere between an Irish pub, a Westlife concert, a rugby stadium and a cattle mart. We are very lucky to have found a venue that looks like our site in Edinburgh in every way, and we hope the people of Glasgow like it as much as we do… and if they don’t, I’ll have a 15-foot “Dropkicks” neon sign for sale… cash sales only, no time wasters—DM the Instagram page.”
