This year’s Unsung Hero Award was awarded Fiona Joyce, someone truly exceptional. Fiona has been described as incredible fun to work with, phenomenally talented at what she does, and fiercely dedicated to doing the job both well and right. She always puts her team first, bringing kindness, care, and a smile to every situation – no matter what life throws her way.
For the past 22 years, Fiona has been the heartbeat of the Solway Lodge Hotel in Gretna, serving as an outstanding manager whose devotion is second to none. Her passion, positivity, and leadership are deeply admired and profoundly felt by all who work with her.
But what makes Fiona’s story even more remarkable is that she does all of this while living with terminal cancer. Despite the challenges, she continues to show up every day, never letting it impact her work or spirit. Her resilience, strength, and “never give up” attitude are nothing short of amazing.
Someone recently said, “The woman is an inspiration.” We couldn’t agree more.
