The Rock closed its doors this week for a seven-week refurbishment programme as the West End venue prepares for a full makeover by owners Mitchells & Butlers.

Originally set to reopen under the simplified name The Hyndland, the plans were revised following feedback from locals and regulars. The new name — The Hyndland Rock — retains the well-known ‘Rock’ branding that has been associated with the venue since it first opened in 1966.

The revamp includes upgraded internal finishes and lighting, an upgraded kitchen and revised ground floor layout. Externally, the plans include new signage and improved outdoor lighting, in line with planning submissions lodged earlier this year with Glasgow City Council.

Operators have confirmed that live music, sports broadcasts, and pub quizzes will remain part of the regular entertainment line-up when the doors reopen later this month.
