Lisini Pub Company has been awarded the Wellness Charter by Scottish charity Hospitality Health, in recognition of its commitment to staff wellbeing across its venues.

The Wellness Charter, launched by Hospitality Health, recognises hospitality and tourism businesses that are actively supporting the mental and emotional wellbeing of their workforce. The charity was founded in 2018 to drive a shift in how the industry approaches mental health, and the Charter now serves as a benchmark for best practice.

Training Manager at Lisini, Martine Tumilty, accepted the award on behalf of the group. She said, “We are delighted to be awarded the Charter from Hospitality Health. Focusing on the wellbeing of our staff, we have mental health first aiders, wellness training, welfare meetings and development training for all staff.

“Taking great care of our team is such a vital aspect of our business. After all, we expect them to take great care of our guests.”

The company has put in place a programme of staff support that not only responds to the pressures of the working environment but also recognises the broader impact of work-life balance.

Martine added, “Gordon and the team at Hospitality Health are so passionate about helping those that work in the industry by providing invaluable information to anyone that may be facing work or personal worries. This is a fantastic charity that is definitely needed in an industry that, whilst very rewarding, can also be challenging at times!”

Founder of Hospitality Health, Gordon McIntyre, praised Lisini’s proactive approach. He said, “What we are trying to achieve with Hospitality Health is to equip the hospitality and tourism sector with the right tools and mental health first aid training to not only address mental health, but to put staff welfare first.

“We launched Hospitality Health in Glasgow seven years ago with 120 operators in attendance and we have grown considerably, post-pandemic, with a real need for mental health support.”

Hospitality Health continues to work with hospitality and tourism employers across Scotland to provide practical support, reduce stigma, and champion the importance of workplace wellbeing.
