Tennent Caledonian Breweries revealed to staff on Friday 4th June that CEO, Brian Calder, was leaving the company in July.
Brian was appointed CEO in March 2014, after Tennent’s parent company C&C completed the full acquisition of Wallaces Express, the wholesaler formerly owned by Brian and Chris Cosh which at the time had a turnover of £90m.
Initially Brian’s role was MD of the newly formed Wallaces TCB. When he moved into the role as CEO in March 2014 his key task was to integrate the two businesses. Last December he told DRAM, “I have tried to take the best of both businesses to make a better business.” That integration has now been completed.
A spokesperson for Tennent’s said, “Brian Calder was appointed Chief Executive Officer to deliver the integration and establish an effective structure and strategy for the business going forward. With this now in place, we can confirm that Brian will be leaving C&C Group mid-July, as planned.”
It is understood that a successor has already been appointed and an announcement is imminent. However the new CEO, it is understood, comes from outwith the Scottish drinks industry.
Perhaps Brian will now take on his dream job… of being a ski instructor!
