The Scottish Hospitality Group (SHG) and the Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers (ASSC) are joining forces to host a joint political hustings in Glasgow on Monday 27 April, bringing together two of the sector’s most prominent trade bodies ahead of the Scottish Parliament election.
Ivan McKee and Murdo Fraser are confirmed to attend, with four further panellists still to be announced. The evening will open with a fireside chat featuring SHG director Stephen Montgomery and ASSC chief executive Fiona Campbell, joined by other figures from across the hospitality and tourism sector, before moving into a full political panel session.
The format is designed to give operators a direct opportunity to put questions to politicians and hear concrete commitments on how they plan to support the sector. The fireside session is intended to set out the current pressures facing businesses, providing context for panellists before formal questioning begins.
The partnership between SHG and ASSC reflects a broader effort to present a unified front across hospitality and self-catering ahead of the election, with both organisations arguing that a combined voice will carry greater weight with policymakers.
The event is open to members of both organisations. Places can be registered through the SHG and ASSC.
The event takes place at the Royal Faculty of Procurators, 12 Nelson Mandela Place, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, with doors opening at 5.45pm.
