Nicola Sturgeon has said that she expects that the latest estimate of the R number will be very slightly below one, indicating that the current tough measures have had an affect ahead of eleven local authorities moving into level four tomorrow from 18:00 until Friday 11 December.
Scottish Conservative party leader Ruth Davidson asked the First Minister if the restrictions now will lead to the relaxing of restrictions at Christmas or whether a let-up then will mean tougher measures in January but Nicola Sturgeon refused to speculate on either during today’s briefing.
She confirmed that a further 1,089 people have tested positive for Covid-19, 4.6% of those newly tested yesterday. This takes the total number of positive cases in Scotland to 85,612.
1.212 patients are in hospital with a confirmed case (down 29), with 89 being treated in intensive care (down three). 50 deaths have been registered in the past 24 hours of patients who had tested positive in the previous 28 days, taking the total to 3,427 deaths in Scotland.
