The Macallan Estate has announced the return of its immersive theatre experience, as the first single malt Scotch whisky distillery to tell the story of its rich heritage through live performance.

The Macallan Estate Pioneers Experience is a theatrical journey that explores The Macallan’s 485-acre Estate, bringing to life notable characters from The Macallan’s history and introduces some of the most notable characters from the distillery’s history, including Captain John Grant. A pioneer in The Macallan’s story, Captain Grant realised the potential of Easter Elchies Estate in 1700; the land that has been home to The Macallan Distillery since 1824.

As part of the experience, guests will explore The Macallan Estate while savouring special drams of The Macallan single malt Scotch whisky along the way.

Theatre-goers can enjoy a picnic lunch with pioneers Roderick and Katherine Kemp, who took over The Macallan Distillery in 1892. Guests also have the opportunity to meet Janet Harbinson, who guided The Macallan through trial and tribulation in the early 1900s.

As part of the experience, running from 16 July until 7 August, guests will explore The Macallan Estate while savouring special drams of The Macallan single malt Scotch whisky along the way.

Stuart Cassells, General Manager at The Macallan Estate, said, “The Macallan Estate Pioneers Experience is one of the most exciting events in our calendar, and we’re proud to announce its return for 2022. Last summer’s run was a huge success, with plenty of fun along the way, and we’re sure this year will be no exception”.

Meanwhile, The Macallan have released Distil Your World New York, a limited edition single malt whisky and documentary that “captures the essence of one of the most iconic cities in the world”. Created from a combination of six European and American oak casks, the whisky reflects the distinctive artistic character of New York, its towering architecture, and the culinary eclecticism offered by its delis, diners and street food.

Crafted by The Macallan Whisky Maker Polly Logan in collaboration with the Roca brothers, owners of El Celler de Can Roca, Polly and Joan Roca travelled to New York to spend time with the artists who fuel its vibrant culture; the visionaries driving its inimitable creativity; and the thinkers chronicling the city.  Their journey and the people they encountered, including globally acclaimed jazz musician Wynton Marsalis and legendary street artist Lady Pink, are featured in a new 30-minute documentary which premiered in New York before its release on Amazon Prime Video and YouTube in April.
