Edinburgh’s hidden cocktail bar Cask situated on Waverley Market’s rooftop has undergone a redesign. Moving away from the venue’s previous speakeasy vibe, Cask welcomes guests with a fresh, open plan interior, comfortable, spacious booths and a mixture of low and high seating.
The team at Cask have also unveiled their new Mezzanine Wine Bar, a secret suntrap with comfortable seating that makes the most of the views including Arthur’s Seat, the Old Town, Edinburgh Castle and the Scott Monument.
With new drinks menus and a brand-new outdoor bar, they’ve also welcomed a partnership with local independent food brand Lichen, who have redesigned the bar’s food menus to include small plates inspired by international cuisine.
To introduce the Mezzanine Wine Bar, Cask are holding Summer Sessions with a bespoke cocktail menu at the end of July and during August, which will see local DJs such as REYKA and Chris Boyle light up the Mezzanine.
Also new is Cask’s updated cocktail menu, based on the 13 revolutions of the moon and featuring 13 nostalgic concoctions, garnished with retro sweets and made with premium spirits, such as Flor de Caña rum and Edinburgh-based brand Smugglers Spirits.
Cask’s General Manager, Poppy Raeside, said, “We are extremely proud of our new Mezzanine Wine Bar – it’s a stunning space with relaxed lounge vibes where our customers can be transported to Barcelona in the sun. The Mezzanine has a lovely open feel throughout the summer – and the panoramic views of Edinburgh really add to this. Then when the weather isn’t so good we have our terrace which can be covered over and plenty of space inside Cask.”
Cask is also home to Edinburgh’s popular Secret Domes which were launched in November as unique, cosy Scandinavian-style cocktail and afternoon tea experiences. The Secret Domes’ summer makeover is sponsored by sustainable spirits brand Flor de Caña.
General Manager of Waverley Market, Jacquelyn Stewart said, “Cask have a fantastic offering on our rooftop, which is situated within the perfect city centre location with great access links to and from the train station. It’s great to see them working with a range of independent food and drink businesses and suppliers from in and around Edinburgh as they re-launch. As we evolve, we want to continue to support local as we put Waverley Market back on the map.”
